Welcome to the first Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge in April! This week’s challenge is Happy Birthday and the design team is featuring Simon Exclusives to celebrate Simon’s 5th Birthday! You don’t have to use Simon Exclusives but we’d love to see some if you have them!

I used a ton of Simon Exclusives on my card, starting with the white woodgrain base. Then I used Kelly Purkey’s Make a Wish stamp set to stamp and heat emboss a numbered background on Tim Holtz distress watercolour cardstock. I used daubers and distress inks on the Mosaic Heart stencil in the centre of the card. I misted it to let the colours run and dried the panel with a heat tool. Immediately following that, I sponged brighter colours on the top and bottom edges of the panel, then repeated the misting and drying process.

After adhering the watercoloured panel to the card base, I die cut three branches from the Layered Tree dies for candlesticks and hearts from the Large Holiday Shapes dies for flames. I used Simon’s cardstock in Sunshine, Orange Peel and Audrey Blue. Finally, I heat embossed the ‘happy birthday’ banner in silver and adhered it across the candles.
