I can’t help but feel super excited when Wednesdays roll around this month. It’s truly an honour to be guest designing for Paper Smooches. I’m a sucker for packaging and I always put my stamps back every time I finish making a card but since I’ve been reaching for Kim’s stamps so often, I actually have her stamps all stacked without their sleeves. I guess that’s a testament to how inspirational they are and how much I love them! I hope you love them, too. 😉

Canadian Thanksgiving was this past weekend so I had thanks on my mind, as well as turkey. I used the turkey, masked with a little hat, both from My Peeps with the biggest sentiment from Chit Chat. I love how well these two sets compliment each other without competing. For the bits of grain (sand, pebbles, etc.) on the ground, I made my twine knots using a variety of The Twinery‘s baker’s twine in earth tones, tossed them on the card and glued them down one by one. Rounding three of the corners at different angles finishes the card.

For my second card, I had that light bulb go off in my head again and I couldn’t stop laughing when I made this card. You might have the same reaction to it, especially if you read nursery rhymes to your little ones. I used Hot Concoctions as the basis for the dish and spoon couple. Yes, the dish is actually the shadow from that set. I used the same face, from the little macaroon, for both the man and the lady but I love how different they look. The man’s arms are from the squirrel in Hang Ups, his legs from the flamingo in My Peeps. The lady’s limbs are from the candy apple in Sugar Rush and the flower as a hat was inspired by the millinery worn at the Royal Wedding. The sentiment is again from Chit Chat.

  8. Holy moly, talk about crazy-genius! Your turkey card is amazing, I love the little pilgrim hat you masked on him and his yummy grain to eat. (Little does he know why he's being fattened up…) Perfect nursery rhyme card! And of course you wouldn't take the easy way out and draw legs or arms, they have to be parts of stamps, too. Wow!

  9. Your cards are so innovative and cute! My favorite is the Thanksgiving one. That's the big holiday at my house! Hubby loves to cook, and he even has an apron with a turkey embroidered on it!

Thanks so much for the chance to win!! 🙂
