As you all know, last month was a pretty stressful one for me so I missed out on the Hero Arts September Contest. I had even received a bunch of new stamps the week before I moved and they’ve all sat uninked ’til now. My publication incentives also arrived last week so I couldn’t wait for the Hero Arts October Contest to begin! I pulled my colours from the
contest banner and went with the bottom sketch. I hadn’t intended to but it turns out my card fits into all three of this month’s categories: holiday cards, sketch and using non-holiday stamps to create holiday cards.

I think these are my three favourite colours of the moment. I arranged Many Dots in the sketch pattern and, for the flower burst at the top left, used the rock and roll technique because I didn’t want a full row of coral. I think the darker edges force the eyes around the rest of the card. The rhinestone, popped circle with a partial sentiment from Very Merry Christmas and twine bow form that all-important visual triangle. The white panel is also popped on foam tape and of course the corners are rounded to follow the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by today! I’d like to encourage you to find time to play along in the Hero Arts October Contest. There’s much fun to be had and you could win some incredible stamps.

  3. So pretty, Em! I really like how you explained your placement and colour choices; to see inside your design process. The top left flower looks gorgeous with the rock-and-roll technique!

  4. I am so glad to see that you sound happy now…sorry the move was so stressful. This is a really nice card, I love the layout and the flower in the upper left corner sure caught my eye with the rock and roll technique.
