Hello, my gorgeous friends! My mojo’s still on vacation, otherwise I would’ve made a new Unity card for you. I’ve been itching to play with some of my new stamps but, alas, no. Perhaps my mojo hides during periods of high stress which is certainly what this week was. More on that later! Today, I’m showing you my first CARDS publication. To keep things interesting, I created something new and never posted it so this is the first time you’re seeing this card.

I used the big chandelier from Marah Johnson’s Breathless and the chairs and sentiment from the September 2010 Kit of the Month, When I Am With You. The chandelier is so big that it takes centre stage on a 5″ x 5″ card. I love it! I cut out four of the chairs from the original image and rearranged them for this card which is in the Girls’ Night Out section of the August 2011 issue of CARDS. I love seeing my card on its own page and this was the first time I had ever submitted to CARDS.

If you’ve made something with Unity or Ippity stamps, link it up to Friends With Flair on Fridays and you could win! If you comment on all the links, you’ll have another chance to win. If I hadn’t found out this morning that I won the Paper Smooches July SPARKS Challenge, I would consider this one of the worst days of my life. It was really not good. My son was not behaving at all today and, at the end of the day, he ended up with a cut and huge bump on his head. This afternoon, I had planned to start baking for my son’s birthday party tomorrow and then we ended up getting two showings booked at the worst possible times: the first one ended my son’s nap early and the second one was during what was supposed to be an early dinner before meeting our financial advisor at the bank to take care of some paperwork for the house. Gah! To top it off, we come back to find that people did not remove their shoes as per requested and, um, where’s the common decency in people who open doors and drapes to have a peek and not close them back to their original positions?! Then after a really late tucking in of the child and being completely exhausted, I realized I missed my favourite summer show, Flashpoint, despite Lindsey reminding me and me having written a note to myself about setting the VCR! (Don’t laugh, I like being retro and refuse to get rid of technology that works just to get new technology.) And there’s no alcohol in the house!! Sigh. I find the older I get, the worse I am at handling stress. When I was younger, nothing would phase me. I sure hope this condo gets sold soon. I am so tempted to take it off the market ’til we’re moved out!!

I hope tomorrow’s birthday party goes off without a hitch. It’s going to be a busy weekend for us. I hope you enjoy yours and I’ll catch up with you all soon!

Second, congrats on the PS win! Woo hoo! You completely deserved it…that card was a hoot.

Third, sorry you're having such a crummy day (week!). People can be so nervy when it comes to viewing houses.

I hope Damian's BD party goes well tomorrow! *hugs*

  3. Oh, I can't believe you forgot to tape Flashpoint, TOO! We also had visitors earlier than we expected, so we totally gapped. 🙁 Now we have one to watch when they rerun the season.

Sorry to hear you had such a sucky day yesterday. When Mr Corgi was selling his house, someone brought two little kids who then proceeded to break one of his airplane models! They all went into the packing boxes after that. What is with people?

Hope the birthday party goes off without a hitch today!

  11. your card is gorgeous. Having moved many times in the past (the last being just a year ago) I totally understand the stress involved in selling…Hope you get a buyer soon so that part is done.

Sorry you had such a crap day. I can't believe what a nightmare time you've had with your showings. 🙁 All fingers and toes are crossed for an immediate sale!! Hope the little guy's head is better and that the party today was smooth sailing. Give a big hug to the birthday boy from and (and one for you too!)

  20. Yeesh, I missed this post. Congrats on the publishing and win! I am not the least bit surprised! Your creations are always beautiful & appealing. Hope your days are getting better. Fingers cross you sell your place soon!

  21. Oh, people are rude!! Yes, they should remove their shoes, how very annoying for you! Hope your son is feeling better after his little bump, my daughter did the same in the garden yesterday – I opened the dining room window, she was playing basket ball, it rolled under the window, she went to retrieve it and yes, cracked her head as she stood up. To say I felt guilty is an understatement! But she's fine now.
And I always keep some spare wine in the garage for days like this! xx
