Welcome to the 3rd Annual Canada Day Video Hop! I’m thrilled to be
hosting this event for the third year and I’m so grateful for the
enthusiasm of our generous sponsors. I hope that you’ll find today’s video
hop to be full of inspiration and also discover a few new crafty Canadian
YouTubers, as well as Canadian shops! We have over 20 individual prizes

* HOP ORDER *

I’m so excited to be creating with these stunning products from Pigment Craft. As I mentioned in my video, Pigment made its debut just over a year
ago and I still covet literally everything they release! I decided to
make two cards using the same colour palette. 

The colour palette I’m using for both my cards includes the following colours: Blush, Tajine, Rosewood, Ficus, Lagoon, Juniper and Balsam. The first card uses Ficus but not Juniper and the second card uses Juniper but not Ficus.

I started this card by using the Spring Flower Stencil to create the background. I ended up cutting the 6×6 panel vertically along the left edge. 

Even though the stencilled panel is simply beautiful, I wanted to add some texture so I used the Bitty Diagonal Stripe Stencil and dry embossed the panel in my Spellbinders Platinum 6.

To create the sentiment, I used the Wish Upon a Dandelion stamp set and coordinating dies. I created the ombre effect on the ‘lovely’ word by using a blending brush and adding Tajine and Rosewood to the Blush-stamped word.

My second card is a shaped-card made with the Jumbo Candy Die, which I’m now completely obsessed with! This is sized very similar to a mini slim card or you can use it as a focal point on an original slimline. 

I love all the detail and because it’s so adorable dressed up with bows from the Ribbons + Wreaths stamp set and coordinating dies. I used a mini stencil mat to ink blend the insert pieces for the candy. From the ends inward, the ink colours are Lagoon, Blush, Tajine, and Rosewood.

To create the sentiment, I used the Oh Hi stamp set and must-have coordinating dies, which gives you so many options for creating this sentiment. The ‘sweets’ word is from the A Note of Hand stamp set and the little heart is from the Sweater Weather stamp set.

    Happy Canada Day and thanks a ton for organising the hop for the third successive year. The soft color palette you have used is very soothing and love it. I have never seen a candy shaped card before. Thanks for the inspiration. I am from Sri Lanka the tiny island nation below India and we are on the news for the wrong reasons these days thanks to the politicians who have robbed the country left right and centre and still refuse to step down.     Congratulations on hosting this for the 3rd year.
    Love your cards, especially the shaped card. I am drawn to cads that are a bit different or unique and the candy card really fits that bill. The colors you used are not some I am normally drawn to, but they are so gorgeous on these cards. I may just have to add them to my set of colors.

  20. Thanks Emily for organizing this. Decades ago when I started stamping (same vintage as Karen Aicken) there were very few Canadian companies. We had to bite the bullet and order from the States and overseas. It's very easy for us to get sucked into the marketing that US bloggers promote when there are Canadian companies who carry the same products. I try to support🇨🇦 as much as possible. Love the Hop!
