I’ve been meaning to participate for a while now after seeing Music Saves My Soul Saturday posts on Janna‘s and Karin‘s blogs for months. Music has always been a big part of my life after studying piano and violin for 11 years and accolades too many to count including awards from the prestigious Kiwanis Music Festival and performances at Massey Hall. Yes, I have a Tiger Mother but I enjoyed my lessons and practices while my sister did not!

Last month, One Republic released their new video for “Good Life” which is one of my two favourite songs on their album Waking Up. The other one is “Secrets“. The lyrics of Good Life are about being in London. Did I ever mention that I got engaged in London? In April and May 2003, we were in Glasgow, Scotland, for my sister’s wedding and afterwards we vacationed in London. It was my second time in England. The proposal took place at an Italian restaurant in Soho called La Perla which is not too far from Piccadilly Circus. 🙂 In fact, after my husband finished his contract in Italy in 2002, we almost moved to England when he was offered a job there. Maybe someday. I could totally see myself living in London. Then again, there are a lot of places I would love to live!

  2. Great song! it's nice to learn a little bit more about you! 🙂
What a fabulous place to get engaged. I have been to england twice, once also for a wedding. My brother-in-law's. but it has never been long enough. I have a british passport (dad was born in scotland) and have been trying to convince my hubby for years to move there. Maybe someday!

  3. I loved reading this Emily as you know I've just begun to follow your blog, so it's fun getting to know you a little. SO SO SO accomplished you are!!!! And London, totally dreamy. I want get engaged there, lol.

  4. Great choice for your first MSMSS! (I just couldn't type the whole name out… :P) Ah yes, Kiwanis festivals. Small town editions aren't quite as prestigious as their big-city counterparts. 😛 London is a great city… but I don't think I could ever afford to live in the parts I like best! I would like to visit again, though.

  5. Great video, Emily!! Its good to know a little more about you and how cool is to have learnt piano and violin. Although I enjoy listening to music, (having stayed in hostel for almost 9 years, music is a big part of my life) but have no idea about the technicalities 😀

Thanks for sharing your talents with us 🙂

I also know what you mean that there many places you would love to live. Perhaps someday that will come true! For, me it's always so fun to experience different places & cultures. They enrich my life and change my perspectives somewhat. Have a lovely day!

PS. I love Londond too. My hubby and I honey moooned there and then went through Wales and spent some time in Dublin.

  10. good lil asian – i grew up w/ piano & violin and shared "Secrets" a while back as my MSMS pick. Love One Republic's songs! I'm secretly jealous that you got to eat at La Perla; but what a sweet story – glad you shared (both story and music 😉
