Hello! I thought it might be fun to do a random post once in a while, especially when I haven’t had time to craft. Today’s post will start with some announcements earlier this week that thrilled me! Did you see who won Wplus9‘s Color Cue {8}?

That’s me! I couldn’t believe my eyes. It’s my first challenge win and I couldn’t be happier! 😀

Then I got an honourable mention for this Unity card in Play Date Cafe‘s One-Year Anniversary Challenge! Two toots for me this week. I don’t mean to gloat. It’s been a big week for me craft-wise! 😉

All this good news couldn’t have come at a better time. Our poor little fur baby Pit’r hasn’t been well. She had an adverse reaction to her last bout of chemo and had massive open sores on her chin. The antibiotics they put her on caused major bowel issues so we’ve been dealing with that over the past two days. It hasn’t been fun cleaning up after her and last night we had to lock her away so we wouldn’t wake up to yucky stuff all over the place. This morning it finally looked like she was feeling better this morning. Thank goodness!

Our dryer also decided to stop working this afternoon and the repairman won’t be coming by ’til Monday. Oh, the things we take for granted! I had to hang everything that was partly dried, as well as the second load that was already in the wash. They are all hard and crispy. Ick.

Over the past several months, I had a series of unpleasant email conversations with a certain well-known stamp company and they still refuse to budge on their outrageous international shipping policy while citing the most ridiculous and illogical reasons. As one wise crafty math teacher put it, there’s no way shipping should cost over 200% of the cost of the products. They even ignored emails sent by friends of mine so we decided that if they want to be exclusive then we will exclude them from our craft budget, too. This is unfortunate because we do love their stuff. Some people just don’t know what is good for them!

As a treat for all this (LOL), I decided to take advantage of Unity‘s amazing 40% off sale going on right now and ordered five new sets (plus a sixth free one, being a Kit Club member)! I love the way Unity and the Unity family has treated me and all my friends so I will continue to support them. That holds true for all the other wonderful stamp companies I have dealt with and I’ll say more on that subject another time.

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. What are your plans for the weekend? We’re excited about the little guy’s second Halloween! He’s going as a dinosaur but he wants to carry the panda treat bag I made for him last year. Too cute. RAWR!!! 😉

  1. That's not gloating, that's just sharing your well-deserved recognition! And you certainly deserved the pick-me-up… poor Pit'r. I hope she's turned a corner on this latest complication.
Can't wait to see you start playing with your latest Unity goodies when they arrive! 🙂

  2. Yay for wins! (Gotta tell ya, I saw that amazing card and immediately thought of the Alhambra) Yay for earthy tabby felines feeling better! Yay for two arms to hang the clothes with! (When we would have bad luck we had a friend that would always say…look down…do you still have 2 legs? LOL!) The other stuff always goes away and girlie – as napolean dynamite would say…you have great skills! xxooxx

  3. So sorry to hear about Pit'r and I do hope things get better soon. Your cards are always simply beautiful and it's no wonder they won. Regarding your crafting dollars, you have to spend them where you're treated well; after all it's the company that should be lucky to have you as a customer. I can't wait to see what you create with your new Unity goodies! Have a great weekend!

  4. Great news and well deserved awards Emily:0)
Poor Pit'r do hope she feels better soon, I know all about clearing up after poorly animals, not nice!
Talking of postage charges,…………. nah! on reflection I'd better not, it just gets me all riled up!
Have a great weekend and enjoy all your new goodies:0) xxx

  6. woot woot for the very well deserved recognition…you have such a fabbie style!!!

Sorry to hear about your Pit'r…but glad that it seems that she is doing better…

200%??!!!! That's INSANE…for pete sakes, you are in CANADA…good grief…I have a bloggie friend that lives in Malaysia that is going through a mess with a well known stamp company…don't these companies know that we crafty chicks talk and back our crafty friends?!

  7. hey, thanks for dropping by my page… gosh, Congratulations on your Color Cue win! 🙂 The card is gorgeous!!!

And yes, I hear you about PTI's exorbitant postal charges. They gave me the same reasons too for the high charges. I think they should allow customers to choose the method they want for shipping and I don't believe ALL their packages go missing! Can't be that bad, right?

But for my case, I just think it's very unfair that they just brush me aside. I mean, come on, I used registered post and they are able to track that it arrived in the US. Isn't that proof enough that I DID send it back? And I spent so much on their products, would I want to cheat them of $7 worth of stuff? If I wanted to cheat, I wouldn't have used registered mail now, would I?

I am actually going to cut down or cut them out from my purchases. There are plenty other brands out there. I hope they won't remain so cocky. Love their products, but am really disappointed.

  8. Hey Em! Hope Pit'r is starting to feel better…sick pet cleanup is no fun!

Congrats on your win and honorable mention–both well deserved!

As the Irish blessing says, "May your dryer get fixed, your stamps ship fast, and your craft time always be long."
