For this card, I combined two of Unity’s WCMD Challenges with the weekly Unity Addicts Challenge: USCWCMD01 (paper piecing), USCWCMD11 (stitching) and UAC21 (use three different stamps from three different Unity kits). I wanted to do the first two challenges because I don’t use either of these techniques often enough and my card happened to qualify for the third challenge just by chance!

I started by stamping a background using the row of leaves from the June KOTM. For the main image, I chose the outdoor house scene from the September KOTM and used different colours of cardstock to paper piece and pop the different elements. To add visual interest and “leaves” to the trees, I stamped them with the lace frame from the July KOTM (which you can see in the close up photo below). I had a hard time choosing a sentiment for this card because I hadn’t really thought about the layout while I was making it. Originally, I wanted a split sentiment much like this card but the ones I tried were either too big or too small. I finally settled on this one from the June KOTM. It was fun making this busier-than-usual card!

  1. Love it, Emily! The background stamping is gorgeous, and I love how you've paper pieced the trees and house, and the stitching is wonderful!

  2. Oh, Em, this card is just adorable! It looks like you tore it straight out of a Dr Suess book! I love all the paper piecing you did for the house scene! And the awesome leaf background! And the perfectly sized sentiment! Fabulous work PLUS three challenges? You rock!
