Can you believe it’s taken me two days to post this card? That’s how insane my life has been lately. Our cat’s been responding well to her chemo treatments and drug therapy, but my father-in-law was sent back to the hospital the day before he was set to be released from the rehab centre. We still haven’t heard why and we can’t seem to get a hold of my mother-in-law so we’re quite worried. Today, the little munchkin was less than cooperative and skipped his nap for the first time ever. I had a hard time dealing. To put it mildly, I had a rough day. I really need a vacation but I’d even settle for a massage. It figures that on a night when I could use a glass of wine or a martini, there’s no alcohol in the house!

Anyway, enough whining since there is no wine. Groan. LOL I used more of Unity‘s incredible July 2010 KOTM to make a birthday card for Wplus9‘s Color Cue {6} Challenge. As I’ve said before, I don’t normally participate in colour challenges but I had so much fun with the last one that I just had to play again this time, especially since it involved kraft! I know, my addition to kraft is probably not healthy. Mwahaha. Now, I have to say that I was never into coral until SU decided to retire Cameo Coral. Ugh. It’s Murphy’s Law, isn’t it? Well, I went to my local scrapbook store just to get some coral cardstock for this challenge. How’s that for commitment? :Þ These four colours worked so beautifully together that I could’ve put them in any order.

I stamped the flower image three times and cut out the ivory flower twice. It’s layered but not popped onto the kraft background. The title of the Randy Newman song You’ve Got a Friend in Me is repeated in the text. Isn’t that cute? I chose to pair it with the birthday sentiment because this card is going to a friend after all! The chocolate panel was impressed using PTI’s woodgrain impression plate and it was such a happy coincidence that the centre of the eyelet lace border die matched perfectly with the centre of the flower. Awesome! I layered the main image on a piece of ivory felt cut with a circle nestie, popped on the sentiment and voilà. Well, I’m off to watch some TV and have some ice cream. I certainly hope you all had a better day then I did!

  1. Oh this is so very pretty and classy. I love how your elements all work together to create one beauty. Sorry to hear that you had a rough day, and double sad that their isn't any wine! Could a friend bring some over perhaps?

  2. hi Emily,
so happy to have come across your blog. I will email you the details of manufacturer etc for the chipboard bike, I think it maybe an Australian manufacturer and if so I don't mind posting it to you. Just love this card and all the others on your blog

  3. Well does the fact you've made another gorgeous card make you feel any better?!? I love this color combo, too, and, yes, I have a love for Cameo Coral too. I don't think you do PTI paper, but their hibiscus burst is pretty close, just a little brighter. I love the layout, too, and that eyelet die is so fabulous and obviously meant to be used with this stamp!

I'm sure your brain must be in overload mode with all the sick kitties, fathers, and grumpy babies around! Just promise me you won't start eying up the cough medicine!! Tell Li'l Leiphart that if he doesn't take a nap tomorrow, Miss Meg will pull out her teacher glare all the way from Alabama (he really shouldn't be exposed to it at such a young age, but desperate times…). 🙂

  4. Hey — I have a pretty good glare myself, so if Meg's doesn't do the trick…
Take care of yourself — I hope you get some good news soon. Or at least a bottle of wine!
Your card is just amazing. I love the felt-woodgrain-eyelet texture combo. Coral is just about my least favorite color, but you make it look elegant! If you'd like whatever cameo coral and/or groovy guava cs I have hanging around, just send me your address — it'd be good riddance for me!!

  5. No wine? A serious oversight in your shopping, obviously. 😛 But the massage is a fine idea, too. Better still, a massage FOLLOWED by a glass of wine!
Oh, the card! 😛 It's beautiful! I'm not sure how you managed to get it done at all with everything going on.

  6. Emily, your card is beautiful! Beautiful elements. Just a stunning job…what else can I say?

    Thanks for visiting me, too!

I hope your FIL is OK, that's scary!

  7. Big hugs girl. Hope things are better for you today.

Love that woodgrain texture plate! And the way you used it here on this fabulous card.

    Thanks for playing along!

  8. THIS card is EXCELLENT, Emily! Way to craft THROUGH life's ups and downs… Seriously! I'm so sorry to hear about your card and in-laws… Here's hoping the chemo heals your furry friend and the FIL makes a full recovery! So not fair, sometimes! The world needs to make way for use to CRAFT! {Then EVERYONE feels better! tee hee} This card is SO yummy on so many levels – I want to gingerly touch it and whisper… "this is BEAUTIFUL! Glad you got some time to share it with us!

    {You're AWESOME!}
