I’ve been feeling completely drained for the past two weeks. I never have any energy and my brain is so tired that I can’t think. It’s literally a struggle to stay awake. I don’t even think it has anything to do with the fact that my son hasn’t slept well in six nights. The sucky thing about living in a condo is that they only have either the heat or air conditioning on, not both. So when the weather turns cold after they’ve switched on the a/c, we freeze our butts off at night. My son doesn’t know how to use a blanket (not only that, he moves around way too much) and hates the sleep sack. Sigh. I so want a house. We’ve been hunting for 16 months now and there’s no end in sight. There’s very little inventory and too much competition. Boohoo.

Anyway, I had a lot of trouble getting creative with the three customer orders I have lined up. I completely botched the wedding card I was making and don’t like the way it turned out so I decided to put that aside and make something simple. It’s raining and dreary today so that combined with my exhaustion doesn’t really help. Susan Raihala‘s One-Layer Wednesday Challenge is the perfect pick-me-up. This week’s OLW8 Challenge is to create a mask and use it as a background. I pulled out Butterfly Dreams which I can never go wrong with! I used the Butterfly Die to create a mask and masked the background colours before stamping the details for the butterflies against the masked colours. Ignore the smudging. What can I say? I’m not feeling perfect today. ;Þ I hope your day is way better than mine!

  1. What a brilliant idea! This is a beautiful card. (What smudges, I say…) I hope you feel more rested soon! This grey day isn't helping much… (We've got our gas fireplace on, it's that cool!)

  2. Despite your sleep deprivation, you are SO CREATIVE! This is a fabulous card and such a clever use of the coordinating dies for a mask!

Hugs on all the rest! Hope you get some sleep in comfort soon!

  3. Very creative! Love the softness of the butterflies…and if I'd been stamping them, they would be a LOT more out of the lines!! Yours look awesome!

  4. Emily, I wish you a good night's rest and/or good caffeine in the morning! And if you'd like to leave the country, we've got plenty of houses here in the Detroit area – we could be stamping neighbors 🙂

The card, by the way, is very, very cheery and cute!
