Okay, here I am with a square kraft card again! I had to make a belated birthday card for my cousin JC. I’ve never celebrated his birthday before but we’ve become a lot closer over the past three years since he and we moved back from Dallas and San Diego, respectively. Anyway, JC’s birthday kind of snuck up on me because I don’t pay too much attention to Facebook birthdays.
Anyway, the scene I created is supposed to be the splendid Alberta wilderness. It’s hard to see both lines of trees in the photo so I probably should’ve used a different shade of green for the trees in the foreground. My cousin and his wife recently returned from a medical conference and vacation in Banff so I thought it would be perfect. This is also the first time I used this Lily and Billy image without Lily! I got the idea from Michelle over at Just Painting Around. If she hadn’t made this card, I never would’ve thought to mask Lily out of it. It’s a great idea since I now have more options with this stamp. My cousin loves to ride his bike but hasn’t had much of an opportunity lately so he can at least have a moment with this card. LOL
Have you seen the new Martha Stewart Holiday punches?! She changed the style and the guides on the sides now fold up for more compact storage. I love them and wanted to buy so many! I controlled myself, however, and only took home a couple today. I was originally going to use my usual picket fence with grass and I even had the fence all punched out for later but changed my mind when I bought the new punches. This fence was designed for Halloween but I love the idea of riding in a quiet place where you see old fences that haven’t quite been maintained. It adds to the charm of the area, much like in Europe! I finished off by stamping cobbles roughly on the bottom to create a path and complete the picture.
