Today, I’m here to share a card featuring the Spellbinders June 2021 Small Die of the Month with a sentiment from the June 2021 Clear Stamp of the Month. I love anything that has to do with landscapes and these dies won my heart immediately, especially with the inclusion of those cute little cacti! Many times, I’ve told the story of my son taking on the persona of a cactus (emoji) since it’s most like a Minecraft Creeper so this card is for him. He’s been collecting all sorts of cacti paraphernalia and I even got him a cactus lip balm. LOL
This month’s Small Die of the Month includes six dies and I used three of those dies on my card. The five pieces that comprise the landscape – not including the sky – are part of a single die. The cactus is a single die and the stamped sun is another.
In the background, the cardstock colours are, from top to bottom: Simon Says Stamp peacock teal, Simon Says Stamp fog gray, Bazzill ash weave, Simon Says Stamp slate gray, Concord & 9th graphite foil, and Best Creation black glitter. The three remaining colours are in the sun, cacti and flowers and they are Simon Says Stamp doll pink, lemon chiffon and green apple.
I love the contrast of the shimmer, shine and textures from the Bazzill ash weave, Concord & 9th graphite foil, and Best Creation black glitter. I also varied their height by stacking two of the ash weave, three of the graphite foil, and three of the black glitter cardstock layers.
The doll pink layer behind the lemon chiffon sun was die cut using two dies from the May 2021 Small Die of the Month and you can see an example of that die cut HERE. Behind the doll pink cardstock, I used the circle die to cut a layer of white foil, which shines as much as the graphite foil in the landscape below. To embellish the cacti, I added doll pink flowers from the Spring Flowers Card Creator and finished with silver crystals.
