Welcome to the Technique TuesdayMy Sweet Petunia Blog Hop! The Technique Tuesday design team is delighted to be joining the My Sweet Petunia design team for this very special blog hop. We’re very excited to feature projects created by using products from both companies.

I’ve owned both the original MISTI and mini MISTI for years and love them both equally. I use them interchangeably and both sizes get lots of use. I received the Creative Corners for this hop and had lots of fun playing with all of the pieces included in the set. I’ve always wanted to be able to place my card away from the corners of the MISTI for various design reasons and now I can! I can also create awesome angled patterns with markers and pens, like in today’s card.

I wanted to CASE an older card that I made with the Cherry Blossoms set back in February and use the Creative Corners to create an angled background for my new design. As you can see in the collage above, I used  three pieces from the Creative Corners, including the t-ruler and both triangles, plus both ends of two shades of green Copic markers that I used to colour the Cherry Blossoms. By sliding the bottom triangle downward and to the left along the top triangle, I was able to keep the lines the same just by flipping my panel 180 degrees. When I turned the card horizontally to draw the third and fourth set of lines, I had to shift the triangles downward and used the bar magnet to keep the triangles lined up at the top.

Here’s what the lines look like before adding the flowers, butterflies and sentiment. The combination of Creative Corners helped me create a perfectly uniform set of lines with exact spacing. Next, I coloured two sets of Cherry Blossoms and butterflies from Grandma Blessings in coordinating colours.
To create the sentiment, I used the hello word die from the coordinating Cherry Blossoms Crafting Dies I used both sets of magnetic corners and the t-ruler to line up the die, which I held in place with removable tape before die cutting from the panel.
I also die cut the hello word from black glitter tape and adhered it to the black panel. The tape is thinner than the cardstock so it’s slightly recessed.
To create the ombre beautiful, I stamped it in two shades of blush and rouge to coordinate with the Copic markers I used to colour the Cherry Blossoms.
I hope you enjoyed this new take on one of my older designs. I had so much fun experimenting with the Creative Corners and look forward to using them more. There’s so much that can be done with them and I can’t believe I didn’t own them until now! I’m very grateful for this chance to collaborate with My Sweet Petunia.

Here’s the full hop list. Be sure to leave some love at all stops to increase your chances of winning one of two fabulous prizes!

Two lucky commenters will be chosen from the entire hop to win one of two prizes: a $50 shopping spree at My Sweet Petunia and a $50 shopping spree at Technique Tuesday. 2. I love the Creative Corners and find them so useful. Love this Cherry Blossom set and love how you used the lines to create interest as well. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Your use of the creative corners blew my mind. I'm going, I have those, I have those. Stunning card! Love the delicate way you portrait the cherry blossoms!

  4. I have the Creative Corners but I have to admit, I haven't really used them since I got them. My crafty time got cut back some since then and I almost forgot I had them! I should pull them out and experiment with them… after I'm done hopping of course! Love both of your cards, but I really like the addition of the Copics to the layout!!!

  5. Oh this background almost steal the shows! The flowers and sentiment and softness of your card all wrapped up make this one of the most gorgeous cards! I love your previous card, too – TFS ♥

  6. Oh, your card is just beautiful. Love how you used the creative corners to make your background. Love the soft colors. Thanks for sharing your creativity.

  7. The skewed frame is deceptively simple, but adds a great dimension to the background – and would be so easy to mess up without a handy tool like the creative corners! The colours and design of this card are so pretty.

  8. I really love the second card and I haven't played with the corners much… definitely going to have to…i just love the added stripes you drew on the card!

  9. I love this fresh take on your previous card project. The angled frame and butterflies are such nice additions. I don't have the MISTI corners yet but would love to have them.

  10. This is a use of the creative corners that I've never seen before, and I love how it turned out. I love the look of offset pieces, but I have a very hard time making it look intentional rather than just weird. Nice to know that there's yet one more reason to get the creative corners! Also, those blossom stamps are lovely. Thanks for sharing this great card with us!
