Welcome to the Stamping for Autism Awareness Blog Hop! I’m honoured to be joining my very talented friends and autism moms Veronica Zalis and Tenia Nelson to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day. We’re all hopping to raise awareness and eliminate stigma associated with autism. My son has had an autistic classmate for the last three years and it’s been a great experience for all of the kids to learn with a student that they all need to offer assistance to and be kind and compassionate to on a daily basis. I’m constantly amazed by the amount of love and patience shown by the autistic student’s adoptive parents.

I have so much respect for all of the teachers, students and especially the parents raising autistic children. You are ridiculously amazing! The fabulous sentiment is from the Fun & Flirty stamp set by Paper Smooches.

First, I created the background by smooshing four distress inks and then adding Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon distress spray stains. I also added Sparkle Shimmer Spritz to the panel. While the panel dried, I heat embossed and watercoloured images from Courteous Cuties, also by Paper Smooches.

I heat embossed the sentiment directly on to the panel and then die cut and popped up the images at varying heights using glue dots and foam tape. You can see all the dimension in the close-up photos above.

Thanks so much for hopping with us! Please visit all the participants’ blogs to leave some love in support of Autism Awareness!

  1. Beautiful card, great background and sentiment. The "under-water-animals" look all so cute and friendly.
    Warm greetings from Belgium.

  2. This is just sweet Emily, I love that you popped them all up, it looks great on that background. A fantastic cause as well, I can't even image how difficult every day would be!

  3. SO well said Emily! I think we sometimes forget how incredible parents and caregivers really are. It takes strength and a special kind of patience. Your underwater scene is so much fun. I love how your colored BG mimics water and bubbles!
