Welcome to the 2013 Caring Hearts Card Drive Blog Hop! This special card drive is now in its fourth year. The reason for this card drive is to use our love of card-making to spread joy in nursing homes across the U.S. and Canada. This time of year can be particularly lonely for the elderly and we want to do all we can to make the holidays a joyous occasion for them. All of the details, including where to send your cards and eligibility for prizes are included in THIS post.

In my true style, I created a holiday card with stamping, die-cutting and lots of layers but still kept it clean and simple. Of course, I had to add some sparkle, too. First, I used the Duo Die 4 from Paper Smooches to die cut a frame with papers from Echo Park’s Winter Wishes paper pad. Then I used the Snow Drifts die from My Favorite Things to create a sparkly snow hill. I used that curve to draw a line where I would stamp the row of houses. Both the house and sentiment flag are from the Hero Arts/Studio Calico stamp set Spread Joy. After the stamping was done, I adhered both the background and hill directly to the card base and popped the frame with foam tape. To finish, I adhered the sentiment to the top right hand corner of the frame and rounded all four corners of my card.

  1. Such a pretty card, Emily! At first I thought it was a shaker card, but when I read about the glitter cardstock, I love how you made it! The color combination is beautiful!

  2. I love all the white space, I forget to use that as a design element and overcrowd my cards. I like how your center really stands out.

  3. I love your card! I like to use lots of layers and techniques too, so this card really speaks to me! Thanks so much for sharing, and of course, for the chance to win fantastic prizes!!

  4. I love how that frame looks in patterned paper, Em! And it is framing such a sweet scene. (Can't wait till I get my own glimmer paper, it looks so good.)

  5. Oh stunning, Emily. Absolutely stunning. I love your glittery snow and i'm glad i got to stop by here because of this fabulous blog hop. Thanks for supporting it! it's near and dear to me heart! cheers.
