Today, I’m featuring the Leafy Greens stamp set along with one of its coordinating dies, the Hickory Leaf Die. It’s been a while since I made my own background so I decided to approach this in a way I hadn’t done before. I die cut a bunch of the leaves and embossed them with a woodgrain folder. Then I embossed the background and adhered all the leaves in place. After finishing the background and adhering it to the card base, I die cut the banner from Flag Tag Dies and adhered two glittery chevrons from Hot Spots Small Set 1. I stamped the hickory leaf flat, adhered it to the banner and attached both to the textured base with foam tape. The sweet little sentiment is from Birthday Sampler, another one of the new releases this month.

Thinking back on the process, I realized that I probably could’ve created my background flat and put the entire piece in the embossing folder to save time. Ha! What a dodo moment. Next time I’ll know better. I don’t know if the impression would be the same but it would be good to try. I could save myself two hours or so. LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Remember to check back here on Saturday to see if you are the lucky winner of Leafy Greens!

  1. I'm glad that stamps and matching dies are coming out. I like to fussy cut but it goes much faster when you can cut it with a die. Love your card. So pretty.

  2. There is so much I love about this card!! The embossed leaves and background=awesome and I love the little glittery chevrons on the banner…too cute!

  3. loved your techniques. The one step embossing would work well but I think your leaves would lose some of their dimension & get squished in the embossing.

  4. Thanks for sharing the hint about creating the background and then embossing but I appreciate that you went to the trouble to do it the looong way for us.The spot of color is very effective.

  5. Great card, and I SO appreciate your comment about realizing when you were done how you could have saved about 2 hours!! You're not the only one who has "Ah HA" moments AFTER you are done with something!! 😛 thanks for sharing!!

  6. Hehe, when I first saw the card I assumed you had run the background and leavers together through you embossing machine, but I think the end result would have been a litte more flat. So thanks for the inspiration LOL. Love your card!

  7. Like you need another comment GF!! But I had to tell you this is awesome, love the base and that you embossed it all! Great card!
