It’s the first Skipping Stones Design sketch of the year! If you’ve been following my blog for some time, you will know that I rarely use sketches so when Jennifer Ingle asked me to guest design for Skipping Stones Design this month, I knew I was personally going to be challenged. After all, it’s a New Year and I could make some improvements. The ability to look at a sketch and know what I’m going to do is one of them. LOL It took me three attempts before I was satisfied with this card. I rotated this sketch 90 degrees to the right and used Funny Coffee, Vol. #1. Any one of my coffee-loving friends would appreciate this card so it will be going in my stash for that perfect pick-me-up! 😉

I hope you will play along with this fun sketch this week. Imagine all the things you could do with those stripes!

  1. This is wonderful Amy. I love your take on the sketch – what a fun idea (stored inside my head lol).
Wishing you and your family health, prosperity and creativity for the New Year.

    Hugs, Mette

  2. So happy to see those sunny colours this morning Emily, we need some brightness here today!! Love how you've used the sketch and such a cool sentiment 🙂

  3. Looks to me like you are doing just fine with this personal challenge to use sketches. 😛 I really like how you used both textured and plain cardstock in your stripes to add some extra interest. Love the bunny slippers on the image!

  4. I find sketches challenging too, so it's heartening to know that you do! Maybe I'll get brave & push through with it too.
Love this stamp, and since I'm about to get up & get my second cup of joe, I can affirm the sentiment. Yup.

  5. Ha! Love that stamp, some days I feel like that. You used the sketch perfectly. I instantly loved this card.

  6. Well, it might've taken a few tries, but the result is great — and hilarious! I love that image!

And the giant cup of coffee next to me at the moment definitely agrees with the sentiment 😉

  7. Emily…….I had a huge smile on my face when I saw what you did for this sketch! I love the color-blocking and that stamp set is one of my most favorites! Can't wait to see what else you create this month while working with the DT over at SSD!
