I’m thrilled to announce that I’m guest designing for Skipping Stones Design this month! Every Tuesday for the month of January, I will be designing a card using the featured sketch and SSD stamps. For more information and a mini introduction, please visit the Skipping Stones Design Blog.

Today’s card is one I made when my package finally made its way to me after a little detour. There was an address mix up and it ended up at the wrong house on the wrong street. Luckily for me, the lady who got my package did her homework and figured out where it belonged. I made this card for her to express my gratitude. I used the woodgrain background from Grunge for the tabletop and paper pieced the mug from Funny Coffee, Vol. #1 using Echo Park papers. The sentiment is from the same set and the steam was drawn with Diamond Stickles. I lightly sponged the top of the lid and the very base of the cup.

See you tomorrow for the first sketch of the month!

  1. This is so cool, Em! Really love this particular coffee cup and how you pieced it. What a nice neighbor to track you down! Have fun with the guest designer spot!!

  2. Ha, our mail gets off by a house or two all the time…arg! Glad you had a nice neighbor to deliver your goods to you.

What a cute coffee cup–did you glossy accent the top or is that just a reflection? Either way, it looks great!

  3. Really like the wood-grain table top! What a great way to use that stamp. I'm sure your neighbour was impressed by the card, and I'm sure you'll have fun with your guest designer-ship this month. go Emily!

  4. I love the card, and the happy ending to the package mix-up – we used to live on Sheaves Way, and there was also Sheaves Court, Road, Crescent, you get the idea. We had mail mix-ups constantly, and that was WITH a community box! Your neighbour might just hope for more mix-ups in the future 😉
Congrats on the SSD guest post – hurray!

  5. Congratulations on your latest DT stint, Em! Love this intro card you've made — the woodgrain background is a perfect ground for the fun coffee cup, perfectly paper-pieced of course!
I'm very impressed that your neighbour sought you out, rather than just returning it to sender, how nice!

  6. Hi Emily! Congrats on being the GDT! What a fabulous neighbor to have gone above and beyond to have found you! :> Love your card! The shading on the lid is amazing, it looks so real! :> Happy New Year to your fmaily!

  7. Totally sweet, Emily! And aren't you lucky to have a stranger do the right thing with your package. I'm sure your note will be so appreciated!! Congrats on your GD gig at Skipping Stones. Can't wait to see what you'll be working on!

  8. Thank goodness there's some decent people out there in the world! If I received someone's stamps by mistake I don't know if my decency would hold out… LOL! Love the colours and paper piecing and the woodgrain table is perfect!

  9. We have a neighbor on the next street with the exact same house number (great city planning at work!), so we're accustomed to making little visits like that. I'm glad your neighbor was clever enough to find you, because this card is so super cute! I love the piecing and the woodgrain and the stickles!
    Have fun GDTing!
