Yesterday, I participated in my first Hero Arts 90 Minute Scramble Challenge #22. This challenge asked participants to use the small (often neglected) stamps in a set. Well, this was right up my alley since I always seem to hone in on those stamps!

I used the two leaves from Sweet Threads Thank You to create the flower. I used two ink colours for both the leaves and the ‘flower’ using the rock and roll technique. I was about to fussy cut the leaves when I realized that the bird’s wing from the SU Bird Builder punch was an almost perfect match for the leaf. This made making the card even faster and only took me about 20 minutes! I embellished the flower with Buttercream anthers to finish the card.

We also had to photograph and post our card within those 90 minutes so it worked out nicely for me. I had enough time to make a second card but I didn’t want to push myself too much since this was my first Scramble. It was fun and I hope you’ll join us next time!

  1. "Anthers" is such a fun word.
Oh, the card? So cute! Love using leaves as the flower — you're just so smart. Way to rock those distress inks, too!

  2. this is fabulous!!! the wing bird punch for leaves is great and the CAS LO is lovely and the colors you chose are awesome!! the rounded corners are the perfect touch 😀

  3. 90 minutes – wow!!! Super impressive. I don't think I will ever be able to play along, too much pressure and my luck is that there will be technical difficulties with my temperamental laptop ;>)

  4. 90 minutes to design, create, photograph, and post your card?! Yikes! Reminds me of Project Runway 🙂 The way you made the leaf into the flower is soooooo creative! It reminds me of a poinsettia (except it's purple and not red). Love those twine knots!!!

  5. I can't believe you have TWO purple distress inks when I have none! 😛 This is a beauty of a CAS card, Em. I'm so impressed, too, that you could go from start to posting a pic in 90 minutes! Nicely done.

  6. The knotted center of the flower is wonderful! Glad you had fun with the scramble. I didn't have to time to join in this time, but I do like to try them 🙂

  7. OH! WOWOWOOW:) I just love this card–great white space and those leaves are stamped but because the flower is popped –they look just like they are coming off the card! Beautiful:)

  8. Ok, Blogger pooped out on me last night, so I'm back to check out what other cool stuff you have made 🙂 What a fun flower! If you did it in red, it could be a pointsettia for Christmas! Great card 🙂
