I had this stack of nesties sitting on a shelf since the end of July waiting to be put together as thank yous after my son’s third birthday party. When the Hero Arts August Contest was announced, it turned out these would fit the theme and this is the week after the party so I will have to get these in the mail soon. There’s nothing like a last-minute phone call requesting a showing to make all mojo evaporate into thin air. Sigh. These didn’t turn out the way I imagined but I think we all make cards like that. Okay, maybe a lot of cards like that. LOL
Originally, I was going to colour the robots but eight of them with the little time I have? No. I decided to use my newly acquired distress inks to add colour to the cards. First, I stamped the sentiment from What a Life at the bottom of the cards and created a mask for them.
Then I stamped the Friend Definition with eight different colours. I used the corresponding colours to sponge the edges of the card bases as well as around the robot panels. It’s not the neatest look but sort of grungy which is fine for little boys and masculine thank yous. 😛
Both the Friend Definition and What a Life sentiment set are new to me, along with a huge Hero Arts order I received earlier this week from Simon Says Stamp. I love Hero Arts and I love Simon Says Stamp for their prices and free shipping to Canada! It takes a while to get here but it’s so worth it when the package arrives. LOL I just wish I had more time to create with my new goodies!
I was also inspired by the way my Lil’ Inker Designs teammate Alicia Thelin photographs her cards on an angle. It looks so artsy so I had to try it and I love how these look. Now I’m wondering if I should be photographing all my photos like that. 😉
Thank you for stopping by! I hope your day is sunny!!

Lovely set of cards Emily. Cute and adorable.
So cool! And so perfect for thank yous to little kids – and their parents!
Oh, wauw, these look awesome, Emily! And it's actually perfect that you didn't color them, 'cause now the kids that receive them, can do some coloring of their own!! They will surely surely surely love that!! All the best, dear friend!!
Hugs, Wendy
I think they look pretty awesome… perfect for boy thank you cards 🙂
These are fabulous – simple but ideel for little dudes.
I totally get the "lost mojo syndrome" I am currently suffering from the same. Ah well, it usually returns and then there's no stopping me lol.
Hugs, Mette
Love the shaped notelets Emily, just perfect for the job. When do you have to start packing all your craft stash up for the move? I had to do that and it's a hard thing to do 🙁

Love that you made the cards shaped too and glad to see your new toys getting some inky love (including the new inks!). I, guilty, just placed an order with them today too….
So cute! CAS is perfect for mass producing and the distressing inks add just enough color.

I think these are just perfect as thank you notes, Em, otherwise the other parents would be all, "does she even do anything but color all day?" (which would be perfectly fine if you did). The distress inks add the perfect touch of color and the funky shape will still make all those non-crafters wonder how you made them.
These turned out so cute! I especially love the wonky shape of the card base, the colorful inking around the edges, and the texty backgrounds!!!
oh, my gosh! these are darling! simple and sooooo cute!
