…I still like ’em and I’m quite sure the friends who receive them will, too! 😉 I saw on Facebook that the talented and positively upbeat Amber Daigre is having a blog hop for the cards that didn’t make the cut in Paper Crafts Magazine‘s Go-to Sketches call for submissions. I thought I’d join in on the fun and link in a couple of my own cards that didn’t make the cut.

This is actually the card that resulted in my ‘Where there is LOVE’ card that was posted HERE. When I was inking up the circles, the pattern on that card was the result and hence an idea was born. 🙂

Yes, I admit that the very first two times I submitted, I got lucky. I consider myself extremely lucky, in fact! I kept telling myself not to be too hopeful in case I experienced rejection. After all, with 2760 entries in this most recent call, making it to the final 288 is pretty astounding. I’m always saying that I’m not good at using sketches or patterned paper but the card that got selected this time around was covered with patterned paper so I guess should stop saying that. LOL

Regardless of whether you received happy mail or experienced rejection this time around, I hope you will keep trying! Sometimes they didn’t choose my favourite cards and other times they have. In fact, I look back at some of the things I submitted, I think to myself, ‘Really? I submitted that? How embarrassing!’ 😉

  1. I totally agree with you Emily! Sometimes my favorites get picked…sometimes ones I don't like that much get picked…and sometimes nothing gets picked up…have to keep trying and remember to have fun! I love these two cards!

  2. Ooh! Both cards are winners in my book, for sure! And I can totally see where your "happy mistake" came from now 🙂

What cheery colors on both as well. Can't wait to see your sketch-based, dp-covered "chosen" card!

  3. Emily these are both beautiful! Congratulations on being selected! Looking forward to seeing the chosen card! What an honor with all the entries for yours to be chosen! Love the layered circles! Great layout!

  4. Great "rejects," Em! The second works perfectly in their "graphic and fun" theme and the first card is just gorgeous! I love the color combo you used and the fact that you inked the circles instead of using plain colored cardstock.

  8. Hi Emily!

Wow, with those amounts of cards coming in for the magazines, you need a bit of luck as well! 😉 Love these cards and I'm happy you get to show them here on your blog, because I hardly ever see the magazines here, ha ha, so then I would miss these lovely cards! Especially that first one is sooo pretty! Love the circles with the glitter!!
    Wishing you a lovely day!
    Hugs, Wendy
