After posting the card shown at left, I had a few requests for a tutorial so I finally decided I would make one. It’s not just a tutorial, it’s my very first video tutorial! I actually had a lot of fun making it, although I only shot the video once because time is limited and I didn’t really want to do it again and again ’til it was perfect. I also shot a video on making a puffy heart but that one turned out really bad and will have to be redone. LOL Anyway, I noticed that I didn’t speak loud enough throughout the video and you’ll see that I was completely stumped when the white ink didn’t show up as planned. There is a long pause while I scrambled for a solution so please don’t judge it too harshly. ;D
I didn’t want to make the same card for the tutorial because that, quite frankly, would’ve been boring so I used two other stamps from the same set, Unity’s January Kit of the Month – To the Moon & Back. I inked up the card base with six different colours of ink and then stamped the moon and stars in black (where the star and twine were on the other card). Originally, I wanted to make this a one-layer card by inking the sentiment on the lower left hand corner with white ink but it didn’t want to show up well so I decided to create a panel like in the first card and popped it on with dimensionals.
If you make a card with a background like this, please link it up in the comments here and I’ll pop by to have a look. Thanks so much!

Em, I could listen to your tutorials all day! So soothing! I'm so impressed with (a) your cardmaking speed and (b) your grace under pressure! I'll definitely be trying this out soon!!
The finished product looks great!!!
Emily I swear I was going to say the same thing as Meg, your voice is so calm! This effect is fantastic to say the least! A must try! Thank You!
finally 🙂 so cool, Emily! You are right, ur voice could have been a bit louder but it is not that bad as you can perfectly see what you are doing. Love that you chose this card, it is awesome and looks so artistic.Hugs Janna
This is awesome, Emily!! Glad you tried your hands (beautiful hands :)) at the video making. I love that background technique. Would surely try it!!
thanks so much for the video, emily! love the bkgd technique and the colors on the sentiment was the perfect touch!
Emily, I love your video! It is perfect because it is real – don't like over-produced, super slick videos because they are way too intimidating. You showed that things don't always go exactly to plan (even for the best crafters!) and how to switch gears and find a solution. You rock and I'm definitely going to give this technique a try.
Yay! That came out really well — both the tutorial and the card. Great job right out of the gate!
Oh, and I could hear you just fine — you sound both soothing and pleasantly Canadian 😉
Way to think on your feet, too — I think the popped sentiment looks great!
Wonderful job on your first video Emily! I think you will do wonderfully with it… keep them coming.

What a GREAT video tutorial Emily!! LOVED it and your cool card!! (=
Very professional! And way to recover when Plan A didn't work. I can't figure out how you could make that whole card without getting all inky yourself. 😀 The moon stamp works so well on this card with the way your fab background shows through. Way to go!!!
beautiful background! really like the texture this technique gives. off the watch the video! =)
You are awesome Emily!! Great tutorial!! Now I need to try this for sure! Keep them coming! Hugsxx
OMG~~~!!! Thank you thank you!!! This is so cool! LOVE LOVE seeing your card making process. I love your white ink pause! So glad to see the step by step. Didn't look that hard to make that awesome bg. But, I probably mess up.
Lovely!! Thanks for sharing the tutorial, Em. And like everyone else has commented, your voice is so so calm!! How do you manage?!!? 🙂 {you could do another tutorial on that – How to keep your voice calm and get your readers' attention! :-)}

Great tutorial! It was really great that something went wrong and you came up with a solution that was even better than the first concept, much more balanced looking. Fab card!
Fabulous tutorial, Miss Emily! It is nice to be able to put a "voice" with your avatar! 🙂
Awesome job! 🙂
Such a great video! I feel like a stalker but I just love your style!
I had to try it myself check out my blog 😉
I have got to try this!!! Thanks for the GREAT tutorial! I don't think I've ever made a card in under 10 minutes but I'm willing to try! This card is GORGEOUS Emily! Love it!
So impressive on so many levels – reread all of the above comments and add my name 😉 A much quicker process than I would have imagined – I absolutely loved that you left in the pause. I could feel your brain working on Plan B. Fantastic.
My first time to your blog, but definitely not the last. I love the video and the fact that you left the 'white pause' in there. I agree with the above comments about your soothing voice and grace under pressure. 🙂 Beautiful card and great technique! Thanks for sharing!
Emily, this is fabulous!!! love the gorgeous background and 1st video!!!
Love this tutorial. I have the worst time with white ink, too, but you saved the day! I'm going to have to try this!
So I'm thinking… that background you created in the video looks like a Van Gogh: Starry Night over the Rhone!!!! This video tutorial is fantastic!!!!! But do I really need to buy that many stamp pads?? lol.
