How is everyone this cold, cold Monday? Yesterday was a day when there was no one on the street. It was that cold, yet my son wanted to play in the snow. So being the good parents that we are, we relented and took him out. No one else was around! After about half an hour, I felt frozen to the bone and was worried that my son was cold. He claimed he wasn’t and put up a huge fight to stay outside. Kids never are, right? My husband had to carry him home kicking and screaming. Ah, the joys of parenthood.
I needed a birthday card for a friend of mine who’s a jewellery designer. She loves earthy tones so I used kraft, old olive and ivory. I started by stamping a shoe background with To the Moon & Back. I bought the Loolah Collection when it was released and hadn’t had the chance to ink it up yet. When I saw the heart, I knew I wanted to make it puffy so I stamped it in on ivory, cut it out and crinkled it. Then I stitched it on to a flat piece of plain ivory cardstock while stuffing poly-fil into it. The back of the heart is flat and the rhinestones follow the flourishes of the stamp itself. You can see all the details in the close up photos. The sentiment is pieced from To the Moon & Back and Take Time To Laugh.
I think this card could’ve been a lot better had I been feeling 100% when I was making it yesterday. I would’ve used the same colours in a slightly different mix so that the sentiment stands out more and I also would’ve liked to have centred the heart better. I also forgot to distress the edges of the heart. Oh well, next attempt. 😉

Love the bling, love the shoes as a background, LOVE the puffy heart! Someday, you'll have to show me how you stitch such nice clean lines on curves — mine would be way messier.
I think your friend will adore this. If she doesn't, well, you know where to find it a good home!
