This is my first time participating in the Just Us Girls Color Challenge. When I saw Lynn‘s entry a couple of nights ago, I knew I had to play along based on the colour combination alone because kraft is my weakness. It was the perfect combination to make a masculine card. I made this one for my brother-in-law whose birthday is at the beginning of December. I used the sketch from Unity’s WCMD Sketch Challenge that I never had the chance to use. The sketch is amazing and so inspiring. I really wish I had the chance to play with it earlier but it’s now in my sketch book so you’ll probably see it used again here on my blog. 🙂

I loved working with this colour combination a lot and even though this is a masculine card, I could easily switch up the colours for a female! First I decided which colours I would use for each element and then impressed, embossed, die cut and stamped away. I was a bit stumped when it came to the long strip but then I found some twill ribbon in my stash from something I bought years ago. I stamped dots on that and cheered a little. 🙂 I added an extra black circle because the kraft and creams were blending into each other a little too much. Lastly, I cut the window out of the car and popped it on with dimensionals. I love this card a lot and think it’s the best masculine card I’ve ever made. In fact, it may be very difficult for me to give it away. I might have to make a duplicate. LOL Do you ever feel that way about a card you’ve made?

I’ll have an exciting announcement to make tomorrow and I can’t wait to share it with you!! I hope you’re all having a great start to your week!

  1. Hi there, I'm loving all the different textures and layers. The sketch is great and the colours perfect. I think this is a brilliant men's card and I understand exactly what you mean about finding it hard to give away your favourites:0) xx

  2. Wow, this is an awesome masculine card! I love all the fun layers you used-very cool design-y tip about adding the black circle. Love how you added it off-center, too!

I have quite a few cards that I've wanted to keep! I always make sure they get sent to a good forever home, and not someone who would just -gasp- throw them away. I can definitely see why you'd want to keep this one!

  3. I love, love, love this card! The layers (esp. those circles!), textures, sketch, colors — everything! Really awesome! I think I might have to use that sketch for something too!

I admit to keeping some of my favorites for myself — we all need a little pick-me-up now and again, and cards make great pick-me-up decor! Yours looks like a keeper to me.

  4. Love the layout and all the texture you've added to your card Emily! I just love that PTI stamp set of the little bug car not to mention the matching die! Makes life so easy! LOL!!!
Thanks for joining Just Us Girls this week for our color challenge!

  5. I totally get why you would want to keep this awesome card, just to pull it out once in a while and sigh happily. 😛 Now when I looked at that sketch, I kind of went meh, but is a stunner in your hands!

  6. Emily this is absolutely fantastic! I love the way you've interpreted the sketch. The car is wonderful and looks great with the window cut out. I really like the addition of the black circle – it just makes the whole image pop. Fab work x

  7. Welcome to Jugs – thanks for joining us this week. Your card is fabby fab! Love all the elements down to the circle, the tickets etc. GREAT card. Thanks for coloring along with Just Us Girls this week. We really appreciate it.
