For my second World Cardmaking Day challenge, I chose USCWCMD04 which is to be inspired by the home decor photo shown at left. These citrusy colours are probably one of my absolute favourite combinations. My glamourous friend Helen, whom I met in San Diego and moved to Zurich the same time I moved to Toronto, just had a baby boy a few days ago and I thought I would use my favourite Unity KOTM so far, Happily Ever After, to make her a congratulatory card.
I didn’t know this would end up being a non-standard sized card until I finished the frames. I started off by choosing one of the three frames I got as part of my freebies when I joined Unity’s Kit Club. {If anyone knows what set these frames are part of, please let me know so I can properly credit them!} Then I used the baby sentiment from the July KOTM to stamp tone-on-tone Happy New Baby backgrounds. I used the same colours for the animals and cut them out. To finish, I used dimensionals to raise the texty inserts as well as the animals. When I realized the three frames wouldn’t fit on a standard card, I decided to make a longer one that would fit in a business envelope.
I love, love, love all of the images I used in this card! If you would like to see how I used the frames in the past, click here, and if you would like to see how I used the animals to make another baby card, click here. 🙂
