Disclaimer: You’re about to see more bad photography due to my camera’s non-functioning display screen! I was going to shop for a new camera this afternoon but didn’t have the energy so I decided to craft instead. 🙂
I haven’t participated in Susan Raihala’s One-Layer Wednesday Challenges for a while but when I saw that it was all about trees this week, I had to play along. I used my two much-neglected tree sets from Local King Rubber Stamp and made two cards. Normally, I would never make a seasonal card like this first one but I felt compelled after seeing all of the beautiful fall cards out there. I’ve never used the leaves from this set ’til today! You can see another card I made using this same set here.

The second card is obviously a Christmas card but it’s actually the fourth card I made with this stamp set today. Originally, I used different greens to create another fall card but, after three tries, I decided that either this tree doesn’t look very good with leaves or I stamped too many leaves and overcrowded the tree. Then I thought back to last year when I made this card and decided to make my first Christmas card of 2010. It’s difficult to see in my photo but I added some sparkly snow on the branches.

Such great OLWs, Em! I love the great fall colors you used for the leaves on the first tree. I always have a hard time putting just the right amount of leaves on.
I love the whimsicality (I think I just invented my new favorite word) of the second tree and the extra whimsicality (admit it, you love the word, too) of the ornaments being on the branch instead of hanging off. Love the sentiment, too, but then again, have I ever been able to resist a type-written sentiment?
Also, these "bad" pictures (which they are not) make me totally covet your floors or your dining room table (I can't tell which it is).

What fun, I made a one layer fall card for Susan last night too- but I love the different color leaves in yours (will post mine a bit later after the sun comes up). Love that you wrote Merry Christmas in two different colors.

What nifty cards! I love fall…and fall cards…but I never seem to get around to making them! The Christmas one definitely has some whimsicality (it IS a word, Meg – and a great one!) to it 🙂
Maybe you don't need a new camera after all — your sightless versions trump most of what I get with a screen!
Now, I gotta get to that challenge….

I love both these cards, Emily! The fall one _almost_ makes me like fall (its main drawback… it leads to winter) and your CAS Christmas card is terrific.
