I’ve been wanting to make this card for a while now and since it features the Sweet Summertime stamp set, there was no better time! I love all the treats in this stamp set but of course Sammy the Squirrel is hoarding the delicious, refreshing watermelon. LOL Sweet Summertime is part of Technique Tuesday’s fabulous scrapbook collection and you could win it!
I started by arranging my sentiment and stamping the squirrel in the centre of the panel. Then I used masking paper to stamp the watermelon pieces on either side of the squirrel. I stamped a separate squirrel and watermelon piece to layer on top of the existing squirrel. All of the images were watercoloured with distress inks.
I trimmed the second squirrel body, cutting around both his paws so they could hold the extra piece of watermelon. I cut off part of the watermelon to make it narrow enough to fit between the squirrel’s paws and added bite marks. I used a black marker to outline the modified edges I created so it would look like it was stamped that way.
