I have four cards to share with you so let’s get started! All of the stamp sets, dies, stencils and ink colours are listed below for your shopping convenience.

My first card features the Best Dad stamp set and coordinating dies. I’ve also used the Inline Alpha Dies and Pegboard Canvas Cover Die.

I watercoloured the tools and hung them on the pegboard, just like in a workshop. Then I die cut ‘dad’ from foil and black cardstock to create a shadow. I heat embossed the sentiment on a black strip and adhered everything to a strip of vellum.

I also sponged around the edges of the pegboard to give it the illusion of being light brown, like many pegboards, without it being completely brown and making the background too dark.

My second card features the Extra Special stamp set on a flat, easy-to-mail card with dry embossing and pearl embellishments.
I used two of the lightest shades on flowers in diagonal corners and two of the darkest shades on flowers in the other two corners. I did the same with the grey leaves.
The final step was to dry emboss the Sketched Lines Stencil on the panel after stamping. It gives a beautiful texture for visual interest.
My third card is another masculine card, and the perfect card for my Minecraft-loving mechanical engineer husband!
First, I used the Cube Builder Stencil to sponge the pyramid of blocks on to a panel. Then I stamped the customized sentiment and added small die cut images, using the Engineers Rule stamp set and coordinating dies.
When my son saw this card, he eyes grew big and he started dreaming of Minecraft cards he could make himself with this awesome stencil. 😉
My fourth and final card for this hop is another feminine card for my mother-in-law. She had surgery recently and I thought this would make a wonderful card to let her know that we’re thinking of her.
I stamped the birds from Birds of a Feather in her favourite colours, along with a sentiment from Trigonometry.
In two of the corners behind the lilac-coloured birds, I also stamped florals from Frosted Garden in the lightest shade of blue used on the belly of the middle bird.

  3. What fantastic cards Emily. My absolute fave here is the tools on the pegboard. Oh my goodness that is amazing. Such a fabulous card and great idea.
    L♥VE IT! TFS!

  4. I really love the cards you made!!!! You have a good mix of humor and beauty in your cards and that is what makes a good parent: a mix of both serious qualities and the ability to be fun, too. I found both of those in my parents and I know I've been greatly blessed to be their daughter.

  5. Wowzer!! Your cards are all amazing…I can't even pick a favorite! Although your minecraft card is really unique..I think your husband will love it!!

  6. Emily, your cards are amazing! I really love how you made that canvas die look like a pegboard with tools hanging on it…so creative! Your bird card is really beautiful and makes a great Mother's Day card! Thanks for the awesome inspiration!

  7. Fantastic cards Emily. Super cool masculine cards. The pegboard background looks great with the tools. I also love those cubes with the sweet images! What a great designs!

  8. Wow, Em, all of these cards are gorgeous! Of course I love the engineering/Minecraft one, because it's so inventive and has tiny ninjas on it! 😀 But the bird card is so very pretty with the colours and perfect design.

  9. What a great bunch of cards! I love how you thought to create a peg board out of that die for the first card – very nice! Thank you for the inspiration!

  10. The vellum in your 'dad' card and the birds in your 'mom' card – AMAZING. The sentiments in the Altenew parents collection are so great; I wish my experience with their customer service team recently match. I am still waiting on a re-send of products that did not arrive from my order in February! 🙁

  11. I love all the texture you have behind your focal images. It just makes your cards so interesting! I also love the idea of using the cube stencil as a place to put small images. I'm definitely going to have to try that in a future card. Thanks so much for sharing and supporting this great cause!
